Pengabdian Untuk Negeri

Hari ini, 63 Tahun Indonesia merdeka, sejak diproklamirkannya kemerdekaan bangsa ini pada 17 Agustus 1945. Besar sebagai sebuah bangsa yang besar, berinteraksi dalam keragaman, dan juga menghadapi sejumlah tantangan. Usia 63 bukan usia yang muda, tapi ternyata belum juga cukup bagi elemen bangsa ini untuk maju selangkah menapaki jalur kemajuan zaman. Usia 63 tahun ternyata belum cukup bagi bangsa yang besar, seperti Indonesia untuk merefleksi diri secara nyata, meskipun refleksi sudah dilakukan setiap tahunnya. Tapi apa guna refleksi, jika tak ada perubahan yang muncul setelah itu.

Sekarang bukan saatnya untuk mengkritisi pemerintah, sebagai elemen yang diamanhkan untuk merepresentasi dan merealisasikan aspirasi rakyat. Tapi sekarang adalah momentum yang tepat untuk merefleksikan apa yang sudah kita perbuat untuk negeri ini. Waktu silih berganti, tapi demonstrasi terus merebak. Dalih demokrasi diajukan ketika wacana ini diangkat. Pro dan kontra terhadap pemerintah terus merebak, bahkan semakin menjadi-jadi. Sadar atau tidak, bangsa ini telah terpecah. Satu golongan mendukung penuh pemerintah, tapi juga mengintimidasi golongan yang lain yang semakin tertindas. Golongan lainnya justu berkoar menuntut semuanya sesuai yang diinginkan, tapi tanpa disadari apakah golongan ini pernah bertanya “apa yang sudah dilakukan untuk negeri?”

Tak perlu jawaban apakah kita berada di golongan yang mana. Saat ini saatnya kita menjadi SATU bagian. Buat apa sumpah pemuda, jika kita tidak pernah menjadi satu. Buat apa slogan “unity in diversity” yang begitu diagungkan, tapi tak ada yang mau menghargai keragaman. Setiap orang maju dengan golongannya masing-masing, dan akibatnya muncul primordialism.

Teman-teman, sekarang bukan saatnya lagi kita hanya menuntut apa yang kita inginkan. Tapi saatnya untuk menguatkan pondasi bersama yang lain, menjadi satu pondasi yang kokoh, BANGSA INDONESIA. Kita (rakyat) memang elemen bangsa yang berfungsi sebagai kontrol sosial dari apa yang direalisasikan oleh para eksekutif negeri. Kontrol sosial tidak selamanya berupa sanggahan, demonstrasi, atau yang lainnya. Tapi kita juga harus memberikan dukungan pada pemerintah agar bisa mengemban amanah kita. Saatnya kita berpikir optimis, bahwa Indonesia Bisa! Saatnya pula kita berpikir bahwa kita bisa mengabdi untuk negeri. Mengabdi tak harus menyumbangkan emas olimpiade, atau mewakili Indonesia dalam sejumlah perdebatan diplomatik. Tapi, mengabdi untuk negeri juga diwujudkan dengan dedikasi yang tinggi terhadap apa yang kita lakukan, dan loyalitas terhadap bangsa. 63 tahun Indonesia Merdeka, saatnya kita MENGABDI UNTUK NEGERI.

Youths as the solution

Many of us, even if our campus religious fellowships don’t involve high school students or younger children, come into contact regularly with them at our congregations, or through activities like tutoring, or caring for younger siblings; perhaps some of us even have children of our own. As we think about engaging our campuses, our neighborhoods, and our religious communities to take action against global warming, then, we might want to keep in mind that we not only need to educate and change the habits of ourselves and those older than us, but we also need to help teach the next generation to do so as well. Unfortunate as it may be, today’s youth are the ones who will be dealing with global warming in very tangible ways as soon as they are adults; hence teaching them about the situation sooner rather than later may not be a bad idea.

So for those of you involved in youth education, or interested in teaching youth in your congregation about global warming and possibly involving them in the Day of Prayer, you might want to check out the new youth edition of the companion guide to An Inconvenient Truth coming out April 10th. Designed for youth in grades 5-8, it’s quite a bit slimmer than the original volume but still contains many of the striking images and the key information about global warming. My guess is getting a 6th-grader to check out some of these photos may be a much easier task than getting them to sit and watch Al Gore for a couple hours. For other educational materials, you can also check out StopGlobalWarming’s classroom resources, which features a “Take Action” sheet with ideas for changes that students can encourage their families to make at home.

Save the Earth

Baby steps are the key to big change. There are lots of little ways to make a difference. Change the incandescent light bulbs in your home to compact fluorescent bulbs; ride your bike, carpool with friends or take public transit to school and work; shut off and unplug electrical equipment when it’s not being used are all ways to save energy and money. Need more ideas?

* Get educated! How much do you know about global warming? For a quick primer, check out Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth (the book or movie), The Live Earth Global Warming Survival Handbook by David de Rothschild or the many other books available at the Chicago Public Library.

* Get involved! There are lots of ways to make a difference in your community, from writing to local politicians to just organizing the teens in your neighborhood and talking about living a more sustainable lifestyle.

* Get empowered! Many of our day-to-day activities have a major impact on this planet we call Earth and some of the effects are as yet unknown. There is so much more to learn about our planet.

Youth and Global Warming

Nowdays.. global warming is a hot issue for us.. is that a issue…?? No..!! it’s a fact, so you think that fact isn’t necessary to discussed and solve the problem…?? It’s really important to discuss.. So what is the relationship between youth and global warming..?? Do you think youth is only as a person who became an adult person and find who he/she is…?? No.., now youth is a problem for our world.

 

I am a youth.. and I am finding who I am.. and I have to get better.. I don’t want to be a bad boy I want to be a youth who usefull for my country and my world.and I can see, I can heard that youth in Indonesia were a bad person, why..?? because now some youngster sure bad condition is “cool”…such as throw their rubbish on the way, paint the government building with some bad word, smoking, clubbing, turn on lamp all day, change their exaust system to be a racing one and make a noise with those muffler, use air conditioner to much, and refrigerator effect.

 

So, youth is one of the big factor of global warming.. they didn’t know that global warming is the end of the world, because we know that if we use AC(Air Conditioner) it has a big effect, AC produce CFC(cloroflourcarbon), it can break the ozone ang if the ozone broken, Ultra Violet fro the sun can’t be filtered, so earth became hot,and will raise the high temperature, we know earth has 2 place where there so much ice there that’s north pole and south pole. So, if the earth became hot, the ice will be melting and happen a big disaster that’s the big “flood”.

 

Now, can conclude that youth make our world become hot and make a big disaster. So,  what we have to do..?? We have to controll our AC and refrigerator using in our home, office, school, public facility and anywhere we are. we are the next generation so our earth’s fate is  on our hand, it can be damage, or keep has the life on it..?? it’s on your hand friend.. stop global warming, simple life is better!!!…remember that.

We Can Avoid Global Warming

Do you know about climate change? Yes, it was caused by global warming, and do you know that Indonesia get into list of Guinness World of Record and have a predicate as The Fastest Forest Destroyer? What will surely work is to cut down forests, not burn the wood and replant the forests with fast growing trees. When these trees reach a size at which their growth slows, they would be cut again. Back in the carboniferous era, trees fell into swamps which evidently provided a reducing environment. The oxygen and hydrogen in the wood were re-emitted into the atmosphere, and the carbon became coal. This process will work for us too (to reduce CO₂ (it takes too long to make coal) if it proves necessary.

You not only save MONEY by following these simple tasks but also can contribute to the society by reducing CO2 emissions.

Switch off that Computer when you are not using it.

Switch off that T.V. when you are not seeing it.

Switch off that fan when no one is in the room.

Switch off that light, stereos, and other electricity appliances. Do you know if properly insulated you can cut your power bills by up to 50% .

Switch off your radiators, turn down your air conditioners before opening your windows. When you sleep, don’t adjust your air conditioners too cool. With up our air conditioners’ temperature two degree everyday, we can reduce CO2 emissions until one ton every year!

Change your lamp with compact fluorescent light, this light more preserve than the other lights, economical the energy more than 60% and 70% fewer produce heat.

As far as possible use less of hot water. Some do take cold bath. You can save energy here. Wash clothes in cold water, instead of hot water.

Walking and cycling is a good exercise for your body. So avoid automobiles if you can. Trains and buses is not only a cheaper mode of transport, it also burns less fuel per capita than cars and PLANES. Reducing speed and air conditioning cuts car fuel consumption and your hard earned money.

Try to buy fruits, vegetables and other items nearby to your house rather than traveling to the market in automobiles. Carry items in one baggage rather than doing excess of packaging each item. By not packing every item you save plastic and cardboard. Imagine, if in one day we can reduce to use two plastics, it means in one year more than 500 plastic we can reduce.

Start from a little thing in our day activity. Even tough just a little thing, but if everyone do the same things will help our earth even more our grandchildren too! Stop global warming! Save our planet, love our planet, because this is our home, our source of life. It’s not a time for talk but for do! Start from your self, start from a little thing, and start from right now.

The Ways To Avoid Global Warming

Global warming is the biggest treat for earth today. This problem has begun when the machine that using fossil as fuel was invented in 20^th century. This fossil resulted monoxide carbon gas that released on the air. Monoxide carbon gas has been cause the green house effect. And the green house effect has been giving adversely effect for our planet, like : reduce of the pole surface, increasing earth temperature, increasing surface of the sea and the change of global climate.

Besides that, the green house effect also resulted by freon from refrigerator and air conditioner. And because of that, all of the people on this planet have same responsibilities to save our lovely earth from the destroy, that caused by global warming.

There are some ways to avoid global warming:

 1^st, use the friendly environment machines, that don’t result monoxide carbon gas.

2^nd, use the refrigerator and air conditioner that don’t use freon.

3^rd, do reboisation program in order to create the normal climate.

4^th, don’t burn forest.

5^th, build the friendly environment factory industries.

6^th, throw the garbage into the garbage can.

7^th, avoid the forestation.

8^th,decrease the using of parfume, because parfume contain some materials that can make ozone coat be thinner. And if the ozone coat be thinner, it will create green house effect.

And the last is do campaign about awareness of environment everywhere and every time.

And finally, all of the people in this world must do work together to avoid global warming. And the most important thing that should we have is self realized to keep our earth. Do something and keep promise for your planet !!!

Let’s Save Our Earth

Global warming is the hottest issue in the world now. Not just the issue, but that is a reality. It happens because we cannot protect our world. We live in our earth, but we don’t love our earth. Many people have made big destruction, like cut the trees in the forest, too extravagant with the oil and make pollution. Those also happen because we use electronic things that use CFC (…………………….), like smoke, like to use plastic bag and many others.

Global warming make big disasters, for example tsunami, not because of the earthquake, but because the ice in the pole fall down. The scientist from Japan and America predict that 30 years later, the sea is wider than the land and the land become smaller. So, we must ready for that. But, we can avoid that.  I have some tips to avoid Global Warming.

First, we live in earth, so try to love our earth. Because, if we love our earth, we will know how important is the earth for our life. We must protect the earth because we just have one earth. So, let’s love our earth!

Second, starts from small things. Starts from our house. We can do many things. Let’s use electricity that don’t use CFC, use AC just if we really need it, and plant the trees near our house.

Third, if we want to go to the market, try to bring our own bag. Don’t use plastic bag, because the nature cannot recycle plstic bag. If everybody use plastic bag, the world will full with platic bag, can you imagine that? The another country like England and Japan have already do this, why we not?

Fourth, if we will go to somewhere, try to use public transportation because if we use our own vehicle, there will be more pollution.  And now, the oil is very expensive.

Fifth, plant the trees in the forest. Trees can make the earth cool. Trees can make the temperature become normal again.

The last, try to separate between organic garbage and non organic garbage. The organic one can we use to proceed fertilizer. And the non organic one, let’s recycle it!

So, we love our earth and let’s do something for it. Start now. Save our earth, take care the trees, make better live, and we will be happy! Remember, we just have one earth.

Hari Yang Menakjubkan

Hari ini mungkin one of d best day in my life..

mm… hari ini aku menjali 3 hal berat dalam hidup saia:

1. dapat info kalo project kolaboratif saia dengan escula dm Portugal masuk top 25 Mondialogo World School Contest,, dan bulan september akan fight untuk jd yg terbaik di Cina

2. Saya menjalani wawncara Pemimpin Muda Indonesia.. Teleconference.. mm.. bener2 nothing 2 loose.. haha.. justru banyak becanda aja wawncaranya… dah pasrah,, dan siap2 bwat ikut lg taun depan kalo gagal

3. barusan mbak kendar (sekretaris Unicef Indonesia) nelpon.. katanya saya salah satu penerima penghargaan Pemimpin muda Indonesia 2008..

Oh my GOD!! Alhamdulillahirabbil ‘alamin bwat smuanya.. Allahu Akbar!! Wa.. it means.. 23 Juli ketemu pak SBY.. hahaha

End of June 08

Well.. sorry karena tidak posting lumayan lama.. Haha
Yeah.. end of June bisa dibilang anak anak KAKI pada sibuk smua.. Yeah, karena sibuk dengan urusan skolah,, dan juga pastinya sibuk dengan preparation for our big project.

Tanggal 25: Kita bikin rapat soal Stand Up Campaign lage.. Located on Cemara,, kita focus ke fund raising dan anggaran dana.. trus juga nyiapin proposal. dan bikin rundown acara

Tanggal 26 dan 27 Juni lalu saya (Iman) sibuk bantu2 di PKBI Cemara buat orientasi voluntter program Globa XChange dr Inggris (Jen n Helen), Hendri (Maluku), dan 1 volunteer xchange dr Canada (Briana). Orientasi ini dimaksudkan bwat ngasih pemahaman ke mereka mengenai PKBI Cemara, serta mengenal skills mereka sehingga bisa ditempatkan pada posisi yang tepat saat jadi volunteer di Indonesia untuk 3 bulan.

Saya sempat pusing juga jadi translator.. Haha.. secara British nya ampyun.. Tapi alhamdulillah,, lumayan ngerti lah.. Saya juga kebagian bwat leading 2 sessions, yaitu Managing Hopes, Concerns, and Goals (dimaksudkan bwat mengenal kekhawatiran dan harapan mereka, sehingga bisa diolah untuk mencapai goal mereka), dan sesi Recognize Ur SKILL and Potention.. Mm.. yah.. lumayan seru lah, at least skalian saya mempraktekkan english saia yg sudah lama tidak dipake. hehehe

Tanggal 29 Juni, saya selaku ketua KAKI lagi lagi di undang jadi guest star dalam program Cemara on D AIR,, di Radio Ray Station 95,1 FM Padang. Topik kali ini soal tinggal jauh dr ortu.. Not bad.. Saya sempat cerita cerita soal pengalaman pas exchange ke Jepang

dan besok tanggal 2 Juli, KAKI bakal bikin rapat lage. Rapat soal Stand Up Campaign 08. Focus nya ke proposal, dan pembagian strategi fund raising, serta nyiapin material bwat MDGs Goes To School. Smoga smuanya baik2 saja

Well.. next week saya akan berangkat ke Malaysia, bwat menghadiri konfrensi Lingkungan. doakan saja smoga smua baik2 saja.. dan.. info lage.. HUMAS KAKI, sdr, Tama lolos program Sunburst Youth Camp 08 ke Spore. Gudlack yah..

Belajar Dari Palembang “Kota Metropolitan yang Makin Berbenah”

Alhamdulillah.. Saya sudah kembali dari Palembang dengan selamat tadi pagi, jam 10 WIB. 3 Hari di Palembang cukup menyenangkan. Apalagi kali ini saya bisa berlibur sembari belajar, yang dikemas dalam kegiatan “Jelajah Budaya Palembang 2008 ; Songket Sebagai Warisan Budaya Luhur Bangsa”. Menyenangkan, bertemu dengan puluhan anak lainnya yang berasal dari Palembang, Bengkulu, dan tentunya Padang. Menyenangkan berbagi ilmu, dan pastinya menyerap ilmu.

Saya memang baru pertama kali datang ke sana, dan mungkin hanya dalam waktu yang singkat. Tapi 3 hari cukup membuat saya jadi “kangen” dengan kota Mpek Mpek ini. Berkunjung ke perkampungan songket, Jembatan Ampera dan kawasa sekitar yang fenomenal, Benteng, kawasan street cafe di depan Hote Swarna Dwipha, Jakabaring, dan pastinya berkeliling kota. Apalagi, jika dilakukan di malam hari. Jembatan Ampera bak London Bridge. Yah.. Palembang memang sudah maju, berkembang menjadi kota metropolitan yang berbudaya, berwawasan, dan bersih. Tak heran, dan memang pantas rasanya jika Palembang mendapat peringkat 1 Adipura Kategori: Kota Metropolitan.

Mungkin memang belum sempurna. Tapi ada banyak hal yang sepatutnya dipelajari oleh daerah-daerah lain terutama Padang. Padang sebetulnya memiliki sejuta aset yang dapat dikembangkan. Beridiri di atas wilayah yang dianugerahi panorama alam yang begitu indah, memiliki pantai, belum lagi masih banyak daerah-daerah yang belum terjamah yang masih berpeluang untuk dikembangkan. Pemerintah Kota Padang, dan segenap warganya butuh berbenah. Bukan hanya dari segi fisik, tapi Kota Padang juga butuh membenahi warganya untuk lebih “open mind” dan tidak terlalu konservatif. Memang adat perlu dijaga, tapi “strict” dengan adat sendiri juga kurang baik.

Apagunanya strict, tetapi kaum muda nya sendiri tidak paham dengan adat. Apa gunanya berlagak menjadi kota berbudaya, tetapi tidak paham dengan budaya sendiiri. Belajar dari daerah lain lebih baik dibandingkan merasa bangga, tanpa mengevaluasi diri, dan tak kunjung berbenah. Jika Padang hanya ingin diam di tempat, selalu begini, dan selalu begini. Tetaplah seperti ini, statis. Tapi jika ingin berubah, lakukanlah INOVASI CERDAS!
